Representatives of the Erasmus+ project SuMoS participated in the Student Mobility Summit 2025., held from February 4–6, 2025., at the University of Barcelona. The event gathered international relations officers, sustainability leaders, and green mobility advocates to discuss innovative solutions for making student mobility more environmentally friendly.

The SuMoS project was represented by Professor Alenka Baggia and Professor Polona Šprajc from the University of Maribor, and Bojana Ivanović Bovan, MSc, from the University of Belgrade. Their participation focused on Work Package 3 (WP3) of the project: Green Practices and Environmental Footprint in Student Mobility, aligning with the Summit’s theme, “More Mobility, Less Carbon Footprint”.

Throughout the three-day event, discussions covered best practices for reducing the environmental impact of student exchanges, institutional strategies for sustainable mobility, and policy recommendations for the future of Erasmus+ mobility programs. The SuMoS representatives actively contributed to workshops and hackathons dedicated to embedding green practices in mobilities, supporting students in choosing low-carbon transportation, and assessing the overall environmental impact of international student travel.

The Summit reinforced the importance of collaboration between higher education institutions and policymakers in advancing sustainable student mobility, a key goal of the SuMoS project. The knowledge and insights gained will support further development of green mobility strategies and benchmarking tools within the project framework.
